This year we have two games at Salute - 'Fleeced!' and 'Hammers Slammers - Route 66'.
Fleeced! (Fantasy, 1/6 scale)
Jason & The Argonauts in a heroic quest for a new rug…
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the fabulous 1963 film version, the game represents the final climatic battle between Jason, plus two other Argonauts against the "Children of the Night" - demonic skeleton fighters grown from the Hydra's teeth. The Heroes must initially cover the escape of the fleece (off table) for the first few turns, before trying to make their own escape... The figures are all accurate "collector" models based on Ray Harryhausen's brilliant originals.
Hammers Slammers - Route 66
15mm Sci-Fi participation game using a "stripped down" version of the Hammer’s Slammers The Crucible Rules. We intend to have a maximum public involvement whilst retaining the feel of the original game. We are planning to simplify the rules for a ‘cinematic’ feel that will allow the players to try their hands at running a troop of the famous Hammer’s Slammers as they make their way from the Star port to Clyde City on Cullen’s World on Route 66!

Scarlet Thunder at Reading Warfare
Five Club members took the game to Warfare at Reading for two days. We had bought the worlds largest (almost) digital clock to have a countdown for the games (£35 on ebay) and it helped speed the game up no end as players were aware that time was short.
On that basis we played ten games over the two days (so around 40 punters (well, 35 - an umpire made up the numbers on some games) and handed out loads of Salute leaflets.
John Treadaway would like to thank Tim "I've just lost a piston ring in my car on the way up here" Atkinson, Peter Merritt and Ivan Congreve (the three drivers for the large slabs of scenery and display boards) plus Kevin Dallimore for running the game.

Warlords @ Colours 2012
The South London Warlords were at Colours 8th- 9th September 2012 and as it it 70th anniversary of El Alamein this year, we refought the Battle of Alam el Halfa (the first battle of the 2nd Alamein). The scenario is from Monty's battles Rapid Fire series.
The game started to be built 3 months ago. From this
The Battlefield
Alam el Halfa Ridge
To This
The Ridge
Big Jim (great Toad), and I have been beavering away to get to this:
The Display Bren (1941 model)& Lee enfield (1942) kindly supplied by Dave Barnes (cheers Mate 8-) )
2nd turn. 21st Panzer Div advances
Artillery set up
and 21st keep moving (view towards ridge)
The British armour lies in wait behind Point 102 (one of the German objectives)
15th Panzer Div arrives
View from the ridge
The Stuka's view of the ridge
21st Panzer have cleared the depression and are mixing it the the British entrenched on the ridge.
The armour clashes!
The battle at turn 10
The British armour stops the "tide"
The Reserves arrive to save the day
The Boston arrives on table and takes out two PzrIIIs
Situation at about turn 12
Germans take the ridge and British fail morale and surrender
The British reinforcements were due on turn 15, but I had some AT guns in the depression and the artillery of both sides were starting to hit their targets, but we think the Germans would have "won the Day".
German victory (again), but once again only just.
A good scenario but a difficult one for the British to win.
