SLW painting competition 21/02/11 - results

For the record then, the results were:

Sci-Fi & Fantasy (on the theme of 'Monstrous')

Salute 2011 Painting Competition

There are twelve painting categories at the Salute 2011 painting competition. There are awards for the first and second place in each category, and also four additional prizes which draw from within the twelve categories.

Historical
1. Historical Wargames Single figure: Infantry or Cavalry – Up to and including 54mm
2. Historical Wargames unit - Infantry or Cavalry: 6mm up to and including 40mm, 5 to 40 figures
3. Historical Wargames unit - Other: - up to and including 54mm, up to 5 figures or models

HISTORICAL PRIZE - The best overall winner from categories 1, 2 and 3.
The prizes for this category are provided by Warlord Games

Science Fiction
4 Science Fiction Single Figure: up to and including 54mm Scale
5 Science Fiction Wargames unit: up to and including 40mm: 5 to 40 figures
6 Science Fiction Creature or Vehicle: creature/vehicle, can be any size, up to 3 items

SCIENCE FICTION PRIZE - The best overall winner from categories 4, 5 and 6.
The prizes for this category are provided by Wayland Games

Fantasy
7 Fantasy Single Figure: up to and including 54mm Scale
8 Fantasy Wargames unit: up to and including 35mm: 5 to 40 figures
9 Fantasy Creatures or Vehicles: creature/vehicle, can be any size, up to 3 items

FANTASY PRIZE - The best overall winner from categories 7, 8 and 9.
The prizes for this category are provided by Maelstrom Games


Other
10 Miscellaneous Class: any figure or unit not covered in classes 1-9.
11 Junior Class: any figure or unit covered by any of the above 10 classes painted and entered by a person up to and including 16 years old.
12 The Salute Figure: painting the Salute Twenty Ten collectors' set

BEST OF SHOW - the best entry from any category.

Message to members - Phil Andrews has published this quarter's Command Post. The contents include part 2 of the Helmand series, Bocage, the results of the Epic40k tournament, and an article of freehanding on Eldar vehicles.

If you haven't collected it at the club or had the e-version in your email, please grab him (not literally) tomorrow night and he will be able to sort out your ComPost.

SLW painting competition 21/02/11

Just a short reminder to members that the club painting competition is this coming Monday. Categories are:

Historical: 'Raiders' - e.g. fast attackers, commando/para types, hit and runners, units figures and vehicles/ships used alone or in small units to strike and retreat.

Fantasy / Sci-fi: 'Monstrous' - e.g. models that are frightful or hideous, esp. in appearance; extremely ugly, extraordinarily great; huge; immense: a monstrous building. deviating grotesquely from the natural or normal form or type.

Usual rules apply: one entry per member per category, new/unseen paintjobs, all entrants get a vote for the winner. Winner chooses the category for the next quarter's competition.

Rather than post a hugely long list, I have added a blog page to the menu bar at the top for the traders at Salute 2011. I have now gone through all the web addresses, but there are still a few with no web address listed. Salute Advance Ticket Raffle

Salute advance tickets are the only way you can enter the raffle for £250.00 of vouchers, which can only be used with traders at Salute 2011.

Ticket sales have doubled from this time last year; there are only a limited number of tickets and they are running out fast.
